These terms cover how commissions, studio visits, sample requests and documentation from our Woodstock workshop are handled. They apply to every order placed through this site, whether it starts as a short email or a full brief from a design store.
We produce hand-thrown stoneware, brushed brass lighting, naturally dyed textiles and reclaimed timber furniture on commission. Every listing on this site describes one series: material, finish, real measurements in millimetres and the firing or dyeing process behind it. Variations in glaze pooling, brass patina and dye tone are part of the making, not defects, and we document them in the process photos attached to each piece.
A commission only becomes binding once we confirm it in writing and you approve the material sheet and dimensions. Ceramic series run in batches through a slow drying cycle and a 1240 °C firing, so lead times depend on kiln space and the size of the run. Textile dyeing follows the weather and the availability of acacia bark or madder root, which can shift a delivery window. If a batch fails our own quality check, we restart it and tell you before the original date.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the brief you send us: quantities, dimensions, intended use and any site constraints such as ceiling height for pendant lamps or doorway clearance for furniture. If you supply your own fabric, timber or fittings, you confirm you hold the rights to use them. Please check glaze samples and dye swatches before a full run starts, since colour approval after production is not something we can reverse.
We stand behind our craftsmanship, but we are not liable for damage caused by misuse, improper installation of lighting, exposure to frost, or cleaning with abrasive products. Natural materials move with humidity and temperature; hairline crazing in glaze or slight warping in reclaimed timber is expected behaviour. Our responsibility is limited to repairing or remaking the affected piece. We do not cover indirect losses such as lost sales or delayed openings.
Either side can end a commission before production begins by writing to us; once a batch is in the kiln or on the loom, work already carried out is not reversible. We may update these terms when our process, materials or legal obligations change, and the current version always sits on this page.
